SAFINTRA, Malawi (Formerly Known as STEELBASE) was established in 1968 and is the major provider of Steel and Roofing Solutions in Malawi. It has its factory and head office at Makata Industrial Area, Blantyre and has opened up the new factory and office in Lilongwe to cater for the growing requirements in Lilongwe and the North.
Safintra, Malawi is a part of the SAFAL Group of companies which has presence in 8 African countries and one of the biggest suppliers of Roofing products and solutions. SAFAL took over STEELBASE in October 2005 along with a local promoter and started the operations under SAFAL Management from January 2005, changing its name from Steelbase to SAFINTRA in 2007.
Since the takeover, SAFINTRA has put up the new state of art roofing manufacturing machinery in Blantyre including a Barrel Corrugator, Automatic Cut-to-Length line, and a new generation IBR profiler. We have a cut and bend yard to provide the deformed bars as per the customer’s requirements.
We have started our operations in Lilongwe from November 2007 and have put up a new Tile profiler to produce “VERSATILE� - the first of its kind in Malawi to provide tile profiles for roofing. The 2nd profiler to produce Widedek will be installed in December 2007 to provide the most economic roofing profile in Malawi, which is again the first of its kind in the country.
